Marie Stultz has devoted most of her ife to the training of young singers in the classics. A published composer as well as the author of Innocent Sounds - Building Choral Tone and Artistry in Your Children's Choir - A Personal Journey, she is a leading authority on training treble voices. During the past year, she has created an extensive choral literature project for The Choral Excellence Series based in Waitsfield, VT. Choral Literature for Treble Voices: Your Guide to the World's Finest Choral Literature includes both a book and an on-going flexible website (www.mstultz.com) containing an extensive annotated bibiography in a searchable database form. Stultz also edits the Innocent Sounds Choral Series for MorningStar Music Publishers based in Fenton, MO. She has been the choral researcher at Spectrum Music in Lexington, MA for over 25 years and has been writing a quarterly new-release newsletter, The Choral Room, since the summer of 1991. This publication for choral professionals at all levels of experience and capability is available on the Spectrum website. After 28 years as founder and artistic director of the Treble Chorus of New England, in 2005 Ms. Stultz founded the Young Opera Company of New England, Inc. (YOC) which is based in Andover, MA. In the summer of 2006 The Young Classical Singers will be formed as part of the opera program. Stultz has had many commissions, including choral music with orchesta and chamber works that have been performed worldwide. She has written numerous articles for major music periodicals and has received an ASCAP recognition award every year sice 1996. In June of 2002, she received the Teacher Recognition Award from the Presidential Scholars Program and the National Department of Education. In April 2005 Stultz received her second citation from the Massachusetts State Senate in recognition of her contribution to the arts. In December 2005, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award, "presented to Marie Stultz, accomplished composer, author and music educator for 30 years of dedication to young singers in choral and opera performance." She has done numerous workshops for all of the major professional music organizations as well as for many classroom teachers through inservice programs. In winter and spring 2006, she presented choral literature sessions at both Eastern and Southern Division ACDA conventions and conducted the 263-voice Honors All-State Middle School Girls Chorus for the State of Georgia.
